How Do Clear Aligners Straighten Teeth?

We create a custom treatment plan to start with the current alignment of your teeth and bite, with the goal of gradually shifting the teeth to achieve the final goal. Our team creates digital impressions that give clear images of your teeth, and we send these impressions to ClearCorrect to have your custom-fitted aligners made.

You receive a series of custom aligners, switching from one set to another usually every few weeks to slowly shift your teeth from one position to the next. These dental appliances are clear, so they’re virtually invisible as you wear them. Also, they fit perfectly to the size and shape of your teeth, making them comfortable to wear throughout the day and night. You can remove them to eat and clean your teeth, which is a major benefit over metal or clear braces.

Do You Offer Invisalign Aligners?

Invisalign is a brand of clear plastic aligners, and our office chooses to use an alternative brand called ClearCorrect instead. They work in similar ways, yet ClearCorrect comes from a dentist and is made of a durable material that resists stains and cracking. Some brands of clear aligners prioritize aesthetic value alone, while ClearCorrect also puts a strong focus on oral health and bite. 

How Long Do I Wear the Aligners?

Each day, you keep your set of aligners in for 20 to 22 hours, which includes the time when you are sleeping. This consistent wear helps to gently move your teeth to a new position and hold that position before switching to the next set. 

With clear aligners, you have the convenience of being able to remove the liners for periods of time, although the more consistently you wear them, the more effective and faster the results.

The full length of time of your treatment varies depending on your case. Many people achieve straighter teeth in as few as two to five months, although some cases take up to a year. Nonetheless, this is still faster than the years it generally takes for braces to achieve their desired results. 

Also, you see consistent gradual shifting the entire time with clear aligners, so you quickly enjoy teeth that are straighter than they were before. Throughout the treatment, you’re able to see your improving smile through the translucent material instead of having it blocked by braces.
