Teeth Whitening

It’s inevitable for teeth to lose their luster and brightness over time due to constant exposure to foods and beverages. Some people experience certain factors that increase the discoloration. By taking action from time to time, you can quickly and easily gain significantly brighter teeth if that’s what you desire.

At Linworth Family Dental, we offer our patients two kinds of teeth whitening options. We can provide a kit you can use from home and the option for an in-office professional whitening service.

Why Do Teeth Lose Their Brightness?

Numerous lifestyle and personal factors contribute to the teeth becoming stained and darkened over time. Eating and drinking in general darken teeth, yet consuming dark foods and drinks like red wine and coffee create extra staining.

Using tobacco products, taking certain medications and consuming dyed foods can stain the teeth as well. Also, not properly brushing and flossing can cause your pearly whites to lose their luster in time. Nonetheless, aging and genetics also contribute to the darkening process.

It’s not a necessity or important to oral health to whiten your teeth. Instead, it’s a personal preference that helps many people feel more confident and happy about their smiles. Also, there may be certain times you desire an extra boost to your smile, such as a wedding, job interview or important social occasion.

Why Are Professional Whitening Products Better?

You have the option to purchase over-the-counter bleaching products like whitening toothpastes, whitening strips or whitening gels. Nonetheless, these products only provide a small amount of peroxide, the bleaching agent. Many of these products provide limited results for a costly price and a slow, gradual process.

Professional whitening from your dentist’s office gives you a much higher concentration of peroxide to create more effective results in a quicker time span. You notice instantly dramatic results from our whitening options.

There are other benefits of choosing whitening through your dentist as well. Because our team of dentists are experts with a focus on oral health, they can ensure your treatment is safe, takes your restorations and other dental work into account and is customized to your needs, such as sensitive teeth. Talk to one of our dentists about any concerns you may have.

Which Whitening Services Does Your Office Provide?

We can offer you both Zoom and Opalescence professional whitening options. Zoom is our office whitening option, while Opalescence is a home whitening solution.

If you want to make an appointment for an instant brightening effect, come in for a Zoom treatment. We use a whitening gel with a high concentration of peroxide that one of our dentists applies to your teeth. Our office has the Philips Zoom LED whitening lamp, which we use to stimulate the effects of the light-activated gel. This process can create amazing results of as much as eight shades lighter in a single quick visit.

Your other option is a whitening kit you can take home to conveniently brighten your teeth on your own schedule and to your preferences. We provide Opalescence products, which are professional-quality whitening solutions that our team can customize to fit your needs and goals.

Ask About Our Whitening Services

Our dentists prefer to start with a consultation to get a sense of your oral health and dental history. Whitening is not a good fit for some people, such as those with certain dental work or for intrinsic stains within the teeth.

After a quick dental exam, one of our dentists can recommend a whitening service or a different way to improve the look of the smile, such as bonding or veneers.
